I can't tell you how many times I've heard moms who are interested in home birth say that for their first they want to give birth in the hospital "just in case". While I am in full support of women choosing where they give birth, I think a lot of moms are misunderstanding the risks of challenges with giving birth in the hospital, especially for their first. My own midwife told me she appreciates first time moms, because she doesn't have to re-educate them from their hospital experiences. So when I meet a mom who wants to have a home birth for her first I am very excited! And this couple was so excited to have their baby at home and they were amazing! Her husband and family were all very supportive and when baby arrived there was so much emotion and love, it was so beautiful to be a witness.
